12th Fail tell the real life story of IPS Manoj Kumar and IRS Shraddha Joshi Sharma. Movie show struggles of Manoj of being an Indian Police Service Officer.
Manoj Kumar Sharma was born and bought up in the middle class family and lives in Chambal region of India. His was a clerk and his grandfather was a subedar who died during a action.
His family don’t believes in corruption and follows to life a honest life. Due to extreme honest belief, Manoj’s father gets suspended for hitting a corrupt Government official.
Goings against their family values, Manoj prepares a cheat slips to pass his Class 12 final examination. He took this step under the local MLA who wants all the students must pass this examination.
A newly transferred DSP Dushyant Singh didn’t follow the MLA advice and arrest Headmaster of school for doing such illegal offense of cheating in examination. And all the students gets failed as they have been exposed for their cheating while examination.
Manoj gets impressed by the brave act of DSP Dushyant Singh. And wants to become like him. He start preparing for his 12 class exam again and this time he vow to clear the examination without cheating. But some unexpected circumstances creates hindrance in his way.
Vikrant Massey as Manoj Kumar Sharma, Medha Shankar as Shraddha Joshi, Anant V Joshi as Pritam Pandey, Anshumaan Pushkar as Gauri Bhaiya and Priyanshu Chatterjee as DSP Dushyant Singh are playing key roles in the movie.
Alongwith Geeta Aggarwal Sharma as Manoj’s mother, Harish Khanna as Manoj’s father, Sarita Joshi as Dadi, Sanjay Bishnoi as Naval, Dr. Vikas Divyakirti as Himself, Vijay Kumar Dogra as Sundar, Perry Chhabra as Rajini, Darius Chinoy as Mr. Solanki, Radhika Joshi as Tanya, Fasi Khan as Kishan are playing supporting roles in the movie.
The movie is written and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The story of the movie is inspired by a non-fiction book written by Anurag Pathak.
The movie is edited by Jaskunwar Kohli and Vidhu Vinod Chopra. And the cinematography of the movie is handled by Rangarajan Ramabadran. Music for the movie is composed by Shantanu Moitra.

The movie was released theatrically on 27 October 2023. 12th Fail has claimed grossing over ₹64 crore worldwide on a ₹20 crore budget. The movie is releasing for online streaming on December 29, 2023 on the Disney+ Hotstar. The movie will be available in different languages such as Tami, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
