The story follows the friendship between a frustrated young woman and a lonely older woman. Freda Lopez wants to be a singer, but her husband Vincent doesn’t think she is talented enough. This creates marital friction. For vacation, the couple leave their Toronto home to visit Savannah Georgia. It is there that Freda meets the eccentric Camilla Cara, a former concert violinist with a love of tall tales and a taste for sherry. Harold, Camilla’s son, produces soft-core porno movies. He convinces Vincent to become his partner. Freda and Camilla, without the bother of men around, cement their friendship and return to Toronto to attend a concert. While there, they are conned by a bunko artist. As the women begin their pursuit, Camilla calls Harold to tell him she has been kidnapped. Soon the police are searching for them., Holidaying songwriter Freda hooks up with former concert violinist Camilla. Freda’s husband Vincent teams up with movie producer Harold (Camilla’s son), leaving the two women to develop a warm friendship on the road., A retired violinist forms a friendship with a young would-be singer/songwriter, who lacks the courage to pursue her career.
