Introduction
Kathleen Jordan created The Decameron, an American mediaeval black humour television series. It was inspired by Giovanni Boccaccio’s 14th-century Italian short story work with same title.
Plot
The series explores the all-too-common issue of class strife during a pandemic, as a group of misfits attempt to survive the bubonic plague outbreak in 1348 Florence. A group of nobility and their slaves flee to the countryside Villa Santa. As they try to wait out the plague in the Tuscan hills with wine and sex, the group is forced to battle for their lives.
