Civil War

Since Gaumont was headquartered in France, it should not be surprising that the studio’s Civil War did not deal with the conflict between the States in the 1860s. Rather, this Civil War is the one fought between Royalists and Republicans during the French Revolution. Sent to capture a fleeing nobleman, a young officer is wounded. He drags himself to the nearest house, which of course turns out to be the hiding place of the nobleman. The ensuing friendship between these two sworn enemies is the dramatic crux of the picture.
