A visit to Burford, Oxfordshire., Tony Robinson and the diggers visit the picture postcard perfect Oxfordshire town of Burford to respond to a very special challenge from Time Team’s own Professor Mick Aston. Invited to investigate the location of a medieval hospital in the stunning grounds of Burford Priory, Mick found evidence of even earlier archaeology. Pieces of pot discovered in the vegetable garden suggested the Priory was not only once home to a hospital but also one of the rarest of archaeological sites: a lost Anglo Saxon settlement. Thankfully Mick had a direct line to the people who could find out if he was right. Over three days, the Team, with the help of the local primary school children, unearth the history of both the hospital and the earlier Saxon community. Their discoveries redraw the historical map of Burford and produce a site that shows why it sometimes pays to have Professor Aston rummaging through your garden., The crew investigate a medieval hospital in the grounds of Burford Priory, where a Saxon community once lived.
