The threat of war returns for the Protoculture preservationists., The Zentraedi’s overlords, the mysterious Robotech Masters, have detected the massive discharge of energy resulting from the destruction of Dolza’s fleet. Fearing that the SDF-1’s protoculture factory may have been destroyed — or, worse, that the Invid may have already laid claim to it — they immediately depart for Earth. Meanwhile, an increasing number of Zentraedi are reverting to their warlike ways, unused to working peacefully for so long. This is good news to Khyron, who, in hiding with Azonia, receives word that about 10,000 Zentraedi are disgruntled and starts to round them up. In New Macross City, Minmei retreats from an increasingly abusive Kyle, and wonders whatever became of Rick. Elsewhere, Gloval and Exedore brief Rick and the other senior officers; an orbiting Zentraedi factory satellite has been discovered in deep space, which could be the key to rearming in anticipation of more renegade Zentraedi — or the arrival of the Robotech Masters.
