Private Time
A Zentraedi rebellion coalesces; Rick examines his feelings toward Lisa and Minmei., Rick and Lisa are preparing for a picnic lunch date, when Minmei phones Rick out of the blue and asks to meet him, as she’ll only be in nearby Monument City for a day. Rick agrees to meet her, but can’t get a hold of Lisa to tell her he won’t make it. While Minmei tries to find a way to tell Rick how she feels about him, Rick worries about Lisa, who becomes increasingly worried at his absence. Rick and Minmei’s lunch is cut short when Kyle finds them at the restaurant, and roughly takes her away for her next performance. As Rick returns to New Macross, Minmei finds that she can’t sing, declaring to the audience that her heart is broken. Kyle realizes that things can’t go on and tells Minmei he’ll be going away, leaving her to find her own way in the world.
