Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency release date:
Kangana Ranaut is bringing her film on the emergency imposed in India on 25 June 1975. In this movie, she is playing the role of India’s first woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The film has not yet received a certificate from CBFC, due to which the Bombay High Court has now reprimanded the Censor Board and given an ultimatum.
Kangana Ranaut is in the headlines these days because of her political film ‘Emergency’. The movie was supposed to release in theatres on 6 September, but the Central Board of Film Certification did not give the film a certificate, due to which the release date of the movie had to be postponed.
A few days ago, Kangana herself had said that the film has not yet been given a certificate by the CBFC. She will give it as soon as she gets it. Now recently, the court has given an ultimatum to the CBFC on this entire matter and has also directed them by what date they have to give the certificate.
According to a PTI report, the Bombay High Court gave its verdict on Thursday, saying that it is not right to restrict freedom of expression and creative freedom. The Central Board of Certification cannot refuse to give a certificate to a film just because it fears that it may create legal problems.
The court has expressed its displeasure over the CBFC not giving its decision till now and has also given them time till 25th September to give their decision regarding the certificate of the film. The bench of Justice B P Colabawala and Firdaus Pooniwala also asked the CBFC whether they think that the people of this country are so naive that they will completely believe whatever is shown in the film.
