Usha Mehta played a pivotal role in awakening fellow Indians during Quit India Movement, projects “Ae Watan Mere Watan”
“Ae Watan Mere Watan” as the name suggests, is a patriotic film, based on the real life story of Usha Mehta; that takes us back to the pre-independence era of the British rule in India. It was a period of great turmoil and disaster, when civilians from all the corner of India roared against the atrocities of the Imperial rule.
During the Quit India Movement in 1942, one of the daughters of India, Usha Mehta, comes forward, influenced by Mahatma Gandhi’s ideologies. She plays a pivotal role in setting up an underground radio station, facing immense challenges and adversities while disseminating information to lead the freedom movement.
Directed by Kannan Iyer and written by Darab Farooqui and the director himself, Ae Watan Mere Watan is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra, starring Sara Ali Khan in the lead role as Usha Mehta, anand Tiwari, Sachin Khedkar, abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O’Nell, Benedict Garrett, Godaan Kumar and Emraan Hashmi as Ram Manohar Lohia in the historical biographical drama. The movie is set to release on 21st March on Amazon Prime.
In the six years of career graph, Sara Ali Khan has given us major hits like Simmba (2018), Love Aaj Kal (2020), Coolie No. 1 (2020), Atrangi Re (2021), etc, since her dbut in Kedarnath in 2018. “Ae Watan Mere Watan” challenges Sara Ali Khan to move out of her comfort zone and make her mark in biographical drama through this movie.
