He said, ‘Tanu Weds Manu is the kind of franchise that demands a third part.’ Emphasizing the depth and appeal of the characters, he said, ‘Those characters are very beautiful, and they were played very beautifully by Madhavan and Kangana. Those characters became a little bigger than the story.
However, Rai set the record straight by saying that a third part was not in the plans as he had completed work with the characters in two parts. But it seems the story of Tanu and Manu is not over yet. This development of the characters in the story is a testament to both the directorial ability of the filmmaker and the amazing performances of the actors.
Reflecting on the journey of the franchise, Anand revealed that starting a series was never the original intention. He told, ‘Tanu Weds Manu was very well threaded. The story was complete. But the characters were eager to come back. That’s why we were able to create another story.
