Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan Express Support after Israel’s Attack on Rafah
In a show of support for Palestine following Israel’s recent attack on Rafah, several A-list Bollywood stars, including Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Varun Dhawan, took to social media to voice their concern.
Alia Bhatt, who recently became a mother to daughter Raha Kapoor, shared a heartfelt post on her Instagram Stories from @themotherhoodhome, emphasizing the importance of love, safety, and peace for all children. Captioning it with “#AllEyesOnRafah,” Bhatt echoed the sentiment of keeping attention focused on the situation.
Kareena Kapoor, Alia‘s sister-in-law, joined the chorus of solidarity by reposting a statement from UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell condemning the killing of children and families in Rafah as “unconscionable.”
Varun Dhawan also lent his voice to the cause, sharing the widely circulating “All Eyes on Rafah” image on his Instagram stories in protest of Israel’s actions.
Notably, other Bollywood personalities like Madhuri Dixit, Triptii Dimri, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Samantha Prabhu, Dia Mirza, and Swara Bhasker also expressed their solidarity with Palestine.
The Israel-Palestine conflict escalated with Israeli shelling and airstrikes claiming the lives of at least 37 people, mostly sheltering in tents, outside the southern Gaza city of Rafah. The assault on Rafah prompted over a million people to flee the city, exacerbating an already dire humanitarian situation.
As the international community, including the United States, raises concerns about the escalation of violence and its impact on civilians, Bollywood’s solidarity underscores the importance of standing up against injustice and advocating for peace in the region.
This collective stance by Bollywood celebrities serves as a reminder of the influential role artists can play in raising awareness and promoting humanitarian causes on a global scale.
