Tamil cinema’s beloved couple, Ajith Kumar and Shalini, are celebrating their 24th wedding anniversary today, drawing heartfelt congratulations from fans. Shalini, born in 1979, began her acting journey at the tender age of 4, gaining recognition across Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu industries.
Initially known as Baby Shalini, she shared the screen with leading actors like Sivaji, Rajinikanth, and Arjun. In 1997, under the direction of Basil, Shalini transitioned into a lead role with the Tamil film “Valandanku Kumarsha”. Despite her initial disinterest in cinema, she starred in notable films like “Amarkalam“, “Alaipayuthe”, and “Priyatha Varam Vaula”.
Ajith Kumar, on the other hand, emerged as a hero in Tamil cinema with the 1992 film “Amaravati”, and later gained stardom with “Amarkalam” in 1999, where he shared the screen with Shalini. Shalini‘s rendition of the song “Sontha Ghokhil Pada” in “Amarkalam” deeply impressed Ajith, igniting their love story.
Director Saran, recognizing Ajith‘s affection, looped the song 10 times on a cassette, further strengthening their bond. Embracing love despite hailing from different backgrounds, the couple continues to inspire many with their enduring relationship.
