Akelli is inspired by the true incidence of a Middle Eastern woman’s life.
It’s a story in which a girl is trapped in the web of the terrorist organisation ISIS.
The movie starts with a terrifying scene in which a girl is shown as a hostage with bombs trying all around her, and a bomb squad is doing its best to diffuse the bomb. And after this, the flashback starts.
Jyoti is from Punjab, where she lives with her mother and a niece. She is in need of a job and easily gets lured by a job agent who offers her a job as a factory supervisor in Mosul, Iraq.
ISIS terrorists raid the same factory where Jyoti is working and capture all the women working there, including Jyoti. They turn them into sex slaves. Jyoti tries to escape from the sex prison at ICIC several times but fails. But she keeps on trying to escape and return to her country.
To know the struggle of Jyoti and the eventual outcomes of her actions, one must watch ‘Akelli‘.
Pranay Meshram is making his directorial debut with Akelli. The movie is produced by Aparna Padgaonkar, Shashant Shah, Vicky Sidana, Ninad Vaidya, and Nitin Vaidya. Nashrratt Bharuccha, Amir Boutrous, Rajesh Jais, and Tshai Haveli are in lead roles.
This thriller-drama movie will be out on August 25, 2023, in various cinema halls.
