Akshay Kumar appeared in the inaugural season of the cooking reality television series MasterChef India.
Chef Sanjeev Kapoor dominated Indian television in the 1990s with his cooking show Khana Khazana. He recently disclosed that he was replaced by Akshay Kumar in the first season of MasterChef India, a food reality show modelled on MasterChef Australia.
conversing with Siddharth Kannan, Sanjeev stated that he was approached by MasterChef, but as soon as he began conversing with the producers, he was informed that they had already signed another judge. He was curious about who may be bigger than him at the moment, and it turned out to be Akshay Kumar.
“They had signed Akshay Kumar, a personal friend, a smart individual, and an excellent professional. They stated that now that we have signed Kumar, we want you as well. I answered, ‘quite nice; I am quite happy’,” he added.
Sanjeev Kapoor stated that he will charge the makers ₹1 more than Akshay Kumar‘s salary. He continued, “They were shocked and said, ‘More than him?’ I answered, ‘Yes, this is my field.’ They were astonished, but they did not react, and I was fine.”
However, the MasterChef producers eventually returned to him because they had decided to replace Akshay. Despite this, Sanjeev stuck to his original terms, acknowledging that the same condition could no longer apply because Kumar was no longer on the show. “So I signed the show, and I did a few seasons but time to effort to return, that ratio did not match,” says Kumar. Sanjeev first appeared on MasterChef in the second season and returned for the fourth season.
