As Ajith Kumar’s birthday approaches on May 1st, several of his movies are set to be re-released in theaters to mark the occasion.
Ajith Kumar, a renowned star in the Tamil film industry, is celebrated for his numerous blockbuster movies and his continued success as a top hero in Kollywood. Many of his films have also found success when dubbed and released in the Telugu film industry, making him a well-known figure in Tollywood as well.
As Ajith‘s birthday approaches on May 1st, several of his movies are set to be re-released in theaters to mark the occasion. Among them is the stylish action entertainer “Billa,” which previously enjoyed massive success at the box office. Additionally, “Dheera” and “Vishosham,” featuring Ajith in leading roles, will hit the screens again, along with “Mankatta,” which will have a re-release overseas.
The re-release of “Billa” on Ajith‘s 53rd birthday has generated significant excitement among fans. This film, a remake of Amitabh Bachchan‘s ‘Don,’ has gained a cult following for its stylish presentation and outstanding performances. Directed by Vishnuvardan, “Billa” proved to be a turning point in his career.
In an interview with News X, the filmmaker revealed that despite receiving warnings from industry insiders about the risks involved, he went ahead with the project, and it paid off handsomely.
Speaking to News X, director Vishnuvardhan said that several ‘big names’ had apprehensions about the film as ‘Don’ had previously been remade in Tamil with ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth in the lead.
“We had two opponents. Don was the biggest hit from Amitabh Bachchan sir. It was then remade in Tamil as Billa with Rajinikanth, who is still the ultimate superstar. Then Shah Rukh Khan had also done Don around the time I did Billa. So, a lot of people asked me ‘Are you serious you want to make Billa?. Big names said this is too risky,” he said.
