He was diagnosed with ALS in 2018. Last year in August, the actor had shared a post on the fifth year of his diagnosis. In the post, she wrote, ‘My brother said emotionally that he doesn’t have a happy ALS anniversary card at the bottom. However, I want to celebrate today. This is the gift of life. I am so grateful that this day came to me. Five years have passed. Lost a lot and gained a lot. Incredibly difficult times, mixed with many more blessings.

The actor further said, ‘There are friends and family, caregivers and doctors, who are coming to my family’s aid again and again. Giving lots of support and love and care and encouragement. There is great beauty in it. This disease is absolutely terrifying, yet despite all the suffering, I am grateful for it, because there are many things to be grateful for.
