“Dukaan” is an unique, unnatural story of motherhood through surrogacy
Anything and everything is possible in India. Yes, this is a very big statement and Indians are widely acknowledged by the term ‘jugaadu’ or one who manages to arrange anything by hook or crook. Many businesses fail to flourish, but Indians don’t leave any stone unturned. Dukaan which literally means ‘shop’ in English is a story of girls from a small town in India, where they turn surrogacy into a flourishing business.
Directed by Siddharth Singh and Garima Whal, Dukaan is set to release on 5th April, ’24, featuring Monika Panwar, Sikander Kher, Monali Thakur, Soham Majumdar as the leads. Other popular actors are Himani Shivpuri, Geetika Tyagi and Vrajeh Hirjee among others.
Motherhood comes with many challenges; and the character portrayed by Monika Panwar in the film, realizes that, when she herself becomes a mother. Motherhood can’t be defined in few words; and for most of the women, it comes with various ups and downs. It is believed that the challenge a woman faces in life becomes very small to the strength and grit of a mother. A mother is as hard from outside as much as she is soft from inside.
Dukaan is a Hindi comedy drama, where women from a small town in India make the dream of couples come true with the unusual method of surrogacy. But, with the joy of becoming a mother, comes hardship and tears, as shown in the trailer. We don’t know from where the parents gather so much of emotional strength, and leave no stone unturned to give their little bundle of joy all the love and comfort of the world they can afford.
