Speaking to 94.3 Club FM, Mamita Baiju revealed that director Bala used to beat her and scold and abuse her on the sets. She was signed as the lead actress in the film and Suriya was the lead actor in the film, but she did not get along well with the director and being upset, the actress decided to leave the film. Mamita Baiju told, ‘My character in the film practices something called Viladichampatu. I asked about it whether my character is an expert in it or a beginner. It was told that he is an experienced character, who knows very well how to play this instrument.

Taking the conversation further, Mamita says, ‘Then Bala pointed me towards a woman, who was a Viladichampatu artist. Bala asked me to watch him play it. I had just started watching when Bala said that we are now ready for the take. I was surprised, I was not ready at that time. I couldn’t understand what the woman was singing.
