Emraan Hashmi stated that he is not opposed to award shows, but people who wish to adorn their living rooms are welcome to attend.
Kangana Ranaut has stated that she dislikes attending award presentations since they are all about TRPs, with a star performing and then receiving an award.
Emraan Hashmi likewise avoids award ceremonies, as discussed on a podcast interview with Subhankar Mishra. During the conversation, he appeared to criticise Kangana’s comments.
During the interview, Emraan Hashmi was asked if he feels award shows are pointless, like Kangana, and he said, “Kyuki mila band ho gaya phir uske baad? I can’t remember why I went to the award ceremony, but the worth of cheez is important. If you don’t do well, what’s your excuse? It’s effectively a barter transaction (since she stopped receiving awards? I forgot which prize I received, but I realised what was going on (that if you perform for them, you get a bargain).”
Emraan Hashmi went on to say, “Abhi main ye nahi kahunga, ye achha nahi hein. I won’t complain about awards. Jin logon ko apne living room sajana hein woh kare! Who will perform? I can’t pat myself on the back and say, Maine aisi performance di hein kyuki ye jhoot baat. If you are honest, you will be awarded based on your performance. Toh fir prize ka fayda, kya agar ek barter transaction hein toh. Uska value hi nahi he (Now, I’m not knocking them, but people who wish to beautify their living rooms can attend award presentations). I can’t do that since it must be honest based on your performance; otherwise, there is no value).”
Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut have appeared in three films: Gangster, Raaz: The Mystery Continues, and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. Emraan will next appear in Showtime.
