Fawad Khan’s Barzakh director defends his decision to star in an Indian film

According to one source, Fawad Khan was anticipated to “turn towards his own industry”. Cake would not be manufactured if Asim Abbasi had his ‘own’ industry, according to him.

Fawad Khan, a Pakistani actor, will soon be seen in Barzakh, directed by Asim Abbasi. He will also reportedly make a return to Bollywood with filmmaker Aarti Bagdi’s film. Now, Asim has defended Fawad Khan after a Pakistani X (previously Twitter) user attacked his decision to star in a Bollywood film.

On X, the individual stated, “Btw, Fawad Khan does not ‘need’ offers from Pakistan; he DOES have offers from Pakistan. There are tonnes of them. He has refused the most of them. Mainstream, big projects featuring A-list writers, performers, and directors. But he has decided to cooperate with Vaani Kapoor in a rando Bwood flick.”

Asim responded to the tweet, writing, “I recognise this isn’t my struggle, but I’m genuinely curious to understand what the problem is here. We are individuals, free to make our own decisions about our employment and personal happiness. Who is a random person to judge the people/geographies we want to work with/in? … Also, OFFERS are subjective; we do not have the same likes or interests. Despite the attention from some networks, I have NO interest in creating that content; it is not my style or aesthetic, and there is no definitive list of A-List. “We are in a beautiful industry…”

He also said, “We should celebrate variety and personal decisions. We do what fulfils our soul. Performing with Zindagi or in the UK fulfils my soul. Perhaps something else fills Fawad’s soul. Please know that we love you all, but we do not wish to be held to unreasonable standards.”

Another person stated, “After the way he was handled, we expected him to pursue his own industry. He’s our superstar. “What about the industry that created him?”

Asim answered, “What is the ‘own’ industry?” Cake would not have been manufactured if I simply had my ‘own’ industry. Every major TV channel kicked me out of their headquarters since my film contained no commercials.”

Fawad Khan is likely to return to Indian film with a romantic comedy co-starring Vaani Kapoor. Aarti Bagdi has signed on to direct the film, which will be shot exclusively in the UK. The romantic comedy will depict the narrative of two broken people who meet by chance, end up helping each other, and eventually fall in love. The yet-to-be-titled picture marks Eastwood Studios’ first overseas cooperation. Fawad Khan last appeared in a Hindi-language film eight years ago. He has appeared in Indian films including Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Kapoor and Sons, and Khoobsurat.
