House: Cast & Creators Live at the Paley Center

The cast and crew of House discuss the inspiration for the show, the casting of each character, and favorite lines of dialogue. This William S. Paley Television Festival evening honors House, a dramatic series about Dr. Gregory House, an acerbic maverick with a limp, who uses his Sherlockian powers of reasoning to solve difficult medical cases. Ron Simon (television curator, The Paley Center for Media) welcomes the audience and moderates the following panelists: series creator/executive producer David Shore; executive producers Katie Jacobs and Paul Attanasio; executive producer/director Bryan Singer; and cast members Hugh Laurie (Dr. Gregory House), Lisa Edelstein (Dr. Lisa Cuddy), Omar Epps (Dr. Eric Foreman), Robert Sean Leonard (Dr. James Wilson), Jennifer Morrison (Dr. Allison Cameron), and Jesse Spencer (Dr. Robert Chase). The panel talks about Shore’s initial inspirations for the creation of the show (including the idea of a hostile doctor as a lead character), how the show ended up on FOX, the show’s atmosphere as conceived by Singer, the hiring of British actor Hugh Laurie to play the distinctly American part of Gregory House and how the other actors were cast, how the show raises awareness of rare diseases, and everyone’s favorite lines of dialogue.
