Since he first rose to prominence in the late 90’s as one of the most sought-after producers of hit singles and albums, IRV GOTTI has established himself and his franchise empire Murder Inc – nowadays abbreviated to just The Inc – as one of the most successful hit-making operations in the world. Every bit as influential a figure in the field of crossover rap as fellow superstar producer Dr Dre, Irv Gotti’s midas touch has given several international stars their biggest career hits. They include Jay-Z, Fat Joe, DMX and J-Lo – her two 2001 duets with Ja Rule both made number one in the Billboard chart. His label’s flagship artist, Ja Rule, was the world’s most commercially successful rap artist in the early 2000’s. His success with Murder Inc characterised the label’s chart dominance at the time and was pretty well matched by pop sensation Ashanti.
