Johnny Chano Martinez; El Padrino Salsero

Johnny Martinez was the premier Salsa King who had the most popular Salsa Band in Hollywood. He started playing there in the 1950’s and continued playing until he retired in 2005. His friends were Tito Puente, Sergio Mendes, Xavier Cugat, Duke Ellington, and other well known icons. Everyone wanted to dance to his band, and club owners liked the way Johnny would work the crowd.
