Live-action underwater footage reveals the dimensions and structure of kelp forests inhabited by fish, sea urchins, moray eels, and other creatures. The program shows the predator-prey relationships and the coexistence of the kelp forest’s many inhabitants with scenes of octopods feeding on shrimp, pike blenny warfare, and nocturnal hunting by batrays. Sea otters scour the rocks for food and play among the fronds. A final sequence shows winter storms detaching kelp from the seafloor.
