This Thing Called Hip Hop is a neo-hip-hop film that pays tribute to Purple Rain, Hip Hop 4 Life and Mo’ Better Blues. Told through a series of podcasts covering a major internet competition, the film explores the internal battles of a rising femcee who is struggle between doing what’s best for her career or doing what’s best for her love life.
