He performs professionally, nationally and internationally as solo pianist and in diverse ensemble formations from duos and orchestras in jazz venues and concert halls. He has an impressive list of recordings as a composer and pianist, having performed with artists Max Roach, Miles Davis, Charles Tolliver, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, The Piano Choir, Nasheet Waits, Roy Haynes, Art Pepper, Jimmy Heath, and many more.His formal training in music includes a bachelor’s degree in music and an honorary doctorate from Oberlin Conservatory, a Master of Music from University of Michigan, study at the Mozarteum Akademie in Salzburg, Austria, and graduate work at Wichita State and University of Southern California. Recent compositions and/or performances include Asian Art Suite for Orchestra, Jazz Sextet & Asian Percussion with Toledo Symphony, solo concert at Billboard Tokyo. Il se produit aux Etats-Unis et à travers le monde, en soliste et au sein de diverses formations, du duo à l’orchestre, aussi bien dans des clubs de jazz que dans de grandes salles de concerts. Avec un nombre impressionnant d’enregistrements à son actif, comme compositeur ou comme pianiste, il s’est produit aux côtés de Max Roach, Miles Davis, Charles Tolliver, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, The Piano Choir, Nasheet Waits, Roy Haynes, Art Pepper, Jimmy Heath, et bien d’autres. Titulaire d’une licence en musique et d’un doctorat Honoris Causa du Conservatoire d’Oberlin, d’un Master en musique de l’université du Michigan, il a aussi étudié à la Mozarteum Akademie de Salzbourg en Autriche, et s’est perfectionné aux Universités du Wichita et de Southern California. Parmi ses récentes compositions et prestations : ‘Asian Art Suite’ pour orchestre, ‘Jazz Sextet & Asian Percussion’ avec l’orchestre symphonique de Toledo, et un concert solo au Billboard de Tokyo.
