Imaginary: A domestic horror film creates an overly busy world of imaginary buddies turned demonic.
“Imaginary” is American supernatural horror film directed and produced by Jeff Wadlow, and written by Wadlow, Greg Erb, and Jason Oremland. It is co-produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions and Tower of Babble. The film’s cast includes DeWanda Wise, Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, Pyper Braun, and Veronica Falcon.
The movie is a watchable jumble of a child’s-play horror film, embodies the tendency of overdone excessiveness. The plot revolves around Alice (Pyper Braun), a young girl who discovers an elderly Teddy bear named Chauncey in the basement of her new home and adopts it as her imaginary friend.
But, of course, Chauncey is more than simply his stuffing; he’s a malevolent presence with a personality of his own. In the old days (i.e., before the “Conjuring” flicks popularised the overcomplication of bare-bones horror), “Imaginary” would have been an elemental spook show about a plaything that causes havoc by doing heinous things. It would have been Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted” covered in blood.
Lionsgate released movie in the United States on March 8, 2024. It earned mainly mixed reviews from reviewers and grossed less than $39 million.
