Independence Day box office: Stree 2 eyes Rs 40 crore opening, to beat Kalki and Fighter

Independence Day box office: Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein sells 6000 tickets

On Independence Day 2024, “Stree 2” is leading the box office race, eyeing an impressive ₹40 crore opening, significantly ahead of Akshay Kumar’s “Khel Khel Mein” and John Abraham’s “Vedaa”.

The horror-comedy sequel, starring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, has already sold nearly 50,000 tickets in advance bookings, translating to approximately ₹1.75 crore in pre-sales.

This strong performance is expected to push the film’s opening day earnings beyond ₹30 crore, setting it up for a successful run.

In comparison, “Khel Khel Mein” has had a more subdued start, selling about 6,000 tickets, despite featuring a star-studded ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, and Vaani Kapoor. Meanwhile, “Vedaa“, with John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, is trailing behind in the advance booking race.

“Stree 2” is clearly capitalizing on its predecessor’s success and strong fan base, while the other films will need to rely on word-of-mouth to catch up at the box office.
