Is Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’ really a copy of ‘Savi’?

Jigra: Director Vasan Bala broke his silence on Divya’s allegations

‘Jigra’ director Vasan Bala spoke about the claims made by Divya Khosla and Manipuri actor Bijou Thangjam and also refuted the allegations of both

Alia Bhatt’s film ‘Jigra‘ has been in the news since its release. Actually, the film is surrounded by controversies regarding box office manipulation and plagiarism claims by Divya Khosla. Now, director Vasan Bala has reacted to this and clarified that the allegations are not true.

Recently, the film’s director Vasan Bala spoke about Divya‘s claim of ‘Jigra‘ being a copy of his film ‘Saavi’. The director said, “Saavi came out when we were editing Jigra. It is already out. Everyone can see it and make up their mind. I don’t really want to put anyone down or add more fuel to the fire. With false bookings I think it is a question of distribution. I don’t think it is shady at all, but anyone who can investigate and bring anything to light is welcome.”

Not only this, Manipuri actor Bijou Thangjam also criticized the Jigra casting team and accused them of unprofessional behavior and discrimination towards actors from Northeast India. To this Vasan said, ‘I don’t remember seeing his face or audition. He was never told that he was shortlisted. I think they checked his availability. Calling and asking availability is the normal process. He probably assumed that he got the role, but I am sure there is always a better way to deal with things. If he felt bad, I apologize, because such things keep happening.’

Earlier, Divya Khosla had accused Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar of exaggerating the box office numbers of ‘Jigra‘. ‘Jigra‘ is directed by Vasan Bala, who has also co-written it with Debashish Irengbam. It is produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Alia Bhatt, Shaheen Bhatt and Soumen Mishra under Dharma Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions. The film was released in theaters on October 11.
