Jackie Shroff’s legal representative objected to what they saw as a “misuse” of his rights by selling products, wallpaper, and ringtones.
Jackie Shroff filed a petition with the Delhi High Court to have his publicity rights and reputation safeguarded. According to news agency PTI, the petition has been filed against multiple organisations that have used his name, likeness, voice, and term “bhidu” for profit without getting his permission.
Jackie‘s attorney objected to the “misuse” of his rights by selling goods, wallpaper, and ringtones. Additionally, he was against the use of artificial intelligence, GIFs, and “insulting” memes. Additionally, he claimed that the Marathi word “bhidu (partner)” violated his trademark.
According to the actor’s attorney, it is unacceptable for individuals to trick customers into purchasing goods they believe Jackie has approved. “Jackie Shroff has a huge following. People will believe he supports it. He possesses a certain amount of marketability. Without his permission, it cannot be done,” the attorney stated, as PTI reported.
Additionally, Jackie‘s attorney informed the court that the actor’s rights were being violated by the online sale of mugs, autographed posters, and bags. “Everyone is making a tonne of money by utilising his name and photographs. There are disgusting profanities in the voice-over, and the content is entirely slanderous. “There is nothing lawful about any of this,” the attorney continued.
Fans may witness Jackie with Akshay Oberoi in the spy thriller Two Zero One Four. Shravan Tiwari directed movie is supposed to be released this year. Additionally, he is working on the action thriller Baby John, which is helmed by A Kaleeswaran. In significant parts in the movie are Varun Dhawan, Rajpal Yadav, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Keerthy Suresh.
