It hasn’t even been few days since Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD, but fans are already eager to learn about the sequel. Here are the release date, cast, and other details.

Kalki 2898 AD, Nag Ashwin‘s dystopian sci-fi film, was premiered in theatres on June 27. Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani play the key roles in the film, which sets the tone for the sequel. From release dates to casting, here’s everything we know so far about Kalki 2898 AD Part 2.
Without giving too much away, Kalki 2898 AD concludes with Supreme Yaskin (Kamal) finally tasting the serum he’s been craving, and Project K comes to life. A surprising revelation about Bhairava (Prabhas) astounds Ashwatthama (Amitabh), while the pregnant SUM-80 (Deepika) is revealed to play an important role in the sequel.
Kalki 2898 AD finished with a title card proclaiming the Cinematic Universe and another stating, ‘To be continued…’ Nag told Prabhas on Instagram Live that Part 2 of the film would take three years to complete. Producer Ashwini Dutt published a press statement stating that 60 percent of the shooting has been done, key portions remain to be shot, and a release date has yet to be determined.
Despite his brief appearance in Kalki 2898 AD, Kamal garnered a positive response. However, the film’s ending revealed that the character will play a larger role in Part 2. At a press conference in Chennai, he stated, “In Kalki, I played a minor role that only appears for a few minutes. My main involvement in the film is only beginning, and I’ll play a considerably greater role in the second half. So I saw this film as a fan and was astounded.”
Dulquer Salmaan had a cameo appearance in Kalki 2898 AD, but it was such an important role that many wonder if his character will return. Dulquer plays Captain, and this was only exacerbated when, out of all the cameos, the film’s team shared a poster of him with the caption, “Presenting our very own @dulQuer as CAPTAIN in the Kalki Cinematic Universe.” Some fans speculated if he’d be in the sequel, while others assumed he was Parashurama.
