Karan Oberoi and Mona Singh, both prominent figures in the Indian television industry, were once a beloved couple. They met while working on the popular show “Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin.” Reflecting on their relationship, Karan noted that their split, which happened over a decade ago, was primarily due to differences in their life goals at that time. He expressed his admiration for Mona, calling her “a wonderful girl and a great artiste”.
Karan explained that while he was ready to settle down, Mona was focused on her thriving career and wasn’t contemplating marriage. “I wanted to be with her,” Karan said, “but she was not looking at marriage at that time”. Despite their breakup, Karan mentioned that they maintain a cordial relationship, exchanging social greetings whenever they bump into each other.
The False Rape Allegations and Jail Time
Karan’s life took a tumultuous turn when he was accused of rape by an astrologer, leading to his arrest and a harrowing month in jail. The accusations were later proven false, and the complainant was found guilty of framing him.
Describing his time in jail, Karan shared the appalling conditions he faced, including dealing with a stinking gutter toilet. He highlighted the psychological toll the ordeal took on him but also spoke about the unwavering support from friends like Pooja Bedi and Anveshi Jain, which helped him endure the difficult period.
In the aftermath of his release, Karan has been vocal about the need for better conditions in prisons and has expressed a desire to work towards improving the same. He has also resumed his career and is focusing on moving past the traumatic experience.
