Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes: Will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on Disney+Hotstar
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is the fourth film in 20th Century Fox’s Planet of the Apes reboot series, which began in 2011 with Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Following Rise’s critical and commercial success, a sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, was developed and released in 2014. A third film, War for the Planet of the Apes, was released in 2017 and finished the saga of chimpanzee Caesar, played by legendary performance-capture actor Andy Serkis.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, set 300 years after War, follows a common chimpanzee named Noa (Owen Teague) on “a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike,” according to the official synopsis.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball previously stated that the film would serve as the first installment in a new Planet of the Apes trilogy. “We planned to make this a trilogy from the start,” Ball explained. “We had huge visions for where it could eventually go and how it would fit into the heritage of these films. So I’m definitely talking to [the studio] right now about the next tale.”
After a spectacular theatrical run that made just under $400 million worldwide, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will be available to stream on Disney+Hotstar on August 2.
