The series is set on the traditional Korean wreatling sport known as ssireum. Kim Beak Doo is the member of a ssireum team for the Geosan County Office. He belongs to a prestigious ssireum family. Kim Baek Doo is famous as the best ssireum wrestler. But he losing his fame by time and now he is thinking about retirement from the sports.
Beak Doo happens to meet his childhood fiend Oh Yoo Kyung. They both grew up together in Geosan County. She work as a leader of the management team of the ssireum team which is on the verge of disbanding. Meeting Yoo Kyung turns out to be a changing point of Beak Doo’s life. He quits the decision of retirement and starts to think about how to prevent the ssireum team from falling.
Beak Doo and Yoo Kyung with the help of Min Hyun Wook, Joo Mi Ran, the new coach Kwak Jin Soo and Baek Doo’s best friend Jo Seok Hee, starts working to save ssireum team.
Actors, Jang Dong Yoon, Lee Ju Myoung, Yoon Jong Seok, Kim Bora, Lee Jae Joon, and Lee Joo Seung are playing key roles in the Korean drama series with various other actors in supporting roles in Like Flowers in Sand.
