Maharaja: after Aamir’s film it did wonders at the box office
Vijay Sethupathi‘s Tamil film ‘Maharaja‘ is making waves at the Chinese box office. The film is also making waves internationally. Starring Anurag Kashyap, Abhirami and Mamta Mohandas, the film was praised by critics in India as well. Now, the film is making records at the Chinese box office.
Released on 40 thousand screens
‘Maharaja’ released in Chinese theatres on November 29. It was released on 40 thousand screens. According to media reports, the film earned Rs 5.40 crore during its premiere screening, followed by a collection of Rs 4.60 crore on the opening day. The collection increased on the second day and it added another Rs 9.30 crore. With a total collection of Rs 19.30 crore in two days, the film has established itself as a strong contender among the recently released Tamil films.
Similarly, the film performed strong on the seventh day as well, grossing Rs 3.90 crore. Till now, Maharaja has made a total collection of Rs 40.75 crore in China.
Highest grossing film after ‘Thugs of Hindostan’
With this, Maharaja has become the highest grossing Indian film in China since the film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ released in November 2018. According to reports, it has now become the 13th highest grossing Indian film in the Chinese market.
