MasterChef India is based on the Australian cooking-based reality show MasterChef. The cooking competition takes place in a large kitchen area located in Mumbai, India.
The kitchen has several cooking stations, which are overlooked by a balcony. The kitchen area adjoins a well-stocked pantry, a freezer/fridge area, and a fine-dining restaurant/seating dining area room used for certain challenges.
The cooking show includes various levels of competition. In each season, various amateur cooks take part in the competition. They have to go through the various challenges put up by the judges of the show. The competitor chefs have to cook a dish within the given span of time. The choice of dishes depends on the task they are performing. Sometimes chefs cook according to their choices. Sometimes judges challenge them to cook a particular dish.
Each week, a cook gets eliminated. The elimination of a cook is based on the scores they scored for their cooking tests.
Judges test these cooks on the basis of genreal cooking skills tests, mystery box challenges, teamwork challenges, and pressure challenges.
After facing various challenges, a top chef for the week is selected. The top chef gets the power of immunity for the coming week. He is safe from the process of elimination. The three contestants who get a lower score than others then go for the elimination test. The one chef who fails to pass the elimination test gets eliminated from the MasterChef show. The winner of the show gets the title of MasterChef India, along with a trophy and prize money.
The judges for MasterChef India season 8 are Chef Vikas Khanna, Pastry Chef Pooja Dhingra, and Chef Ranveer Brar. The reality cooking competition show is produced by Endemol Shine.
The eighth season of the show will premiere on October 16, 2023. The show will be streaming online on SonyLiv.
