This film is a Hong Kong remake of the Luc Besson thriller La Femme Nikita with a high-tech twist. Catherine (Jade Leung) is a young troublemaker who is arrested and handed over to Brian (Simon Yam), a recruiter for a secret government agency. A microchip is implanted in her brain, transforming her into a glamorous ruthless assassin. This variation in the story places heavy emphasis on tension, as Catherine fears the loss of her humanity; otherwise, the story is fairly consistent with the original plot. Black Cat may be of interest to genre fans who wish to compare it to the French original and also to the American version, Point of No Return(1993)., A troubled and violent young woman, Catherine, is shot down by the government in one of her escapades. She awakens in a training facility where she is thrust into severe endurance training and the use of combat weapons. At its end, she is code named Black Cat, and is commissioned to be an assassin for the government. In course of time, her profession clashes against her love life., After accidentally killing a cop, a hell-raising woman accepts a deal and is sent to assassin boot camp, where she is trained by a secret organization., Jade Leung is explosive as the Hong Kong equivalent of La Femme Nikita, a sleek killing machine who yearns to start a new life.
