Travel enthusiast Jeff Corwin ventures to Oaxaca, Mexico, and samples local indigenous foods, including chapulines (grasshoppers), head tacos and escamoles (aka ant caviar)., Jeff Corwin experiences a very different Mexico than your standard spring-breaker. Winding his way from the food markets in Oaxaca (where he experiences the taste of indigenous foods such as chapulines (grasshoppers), and the famous Head Tacos (a Mexican staple that includes cow lips, eyeballs and brains), Jeff is on a hunt for a rare Mexican delicacy – Escamoles (aka ant caviar). He finds them 4 hours north of Mexico City where he is taken to a secret location where a healthy ant colony should have the ant larvae he is looking for. Careful though…these are angry red ants…and they bite.
