Finders Keepers

Produced on location in Denver, Colorado, by the Art-O-Graph Company, this minor silent melodrama featured Violet Mersereau as a small town girl who leaves home to become a singer in the Big City. She soon finds herself performing in a sleazy cabaret, all the while fending off advances from various city slickers. One of the spurned admirers (Verne Layton) takes his revenge by planting stolen jewels on the girl who, distraught over this unexpected turn of events, jumps into the raging Arkansas River. She is saved in the nick of time by her solid boyfriend (Edmund Cobb) and vows to give up life in the fast lane thereafter. Director Otis B. Thayer and leading man Cobb were veterans of Colorado filmmaking, having worked together back in the early 1910s with the Selig company in Cañon City.
