A shady boxing promoter decides to make a bid for the big time by managing his son’s career in the sport. The outcome however, results in some far reaching consequences., Downbeat thriller about a small-time hood who goes on the run with his boxer son after a bout goes wrong. Hoping to turn legit, the man decides to manage his boxer son, but when a sure win turns sour, he and the fighter go on the run from the police and the bookies he owes money too. When the son is shot dead, the distraught hood sets out to look for some answers., Michael Caine, in a sadly underrated performance, plays Billy ‘Shiner’ Simpson, an ambitious boxing promoter who’s lined up his son (Matthew Marsden) for a world title bout. However, when the fight ends with violent death, Billy is on the run from the law while searching for those responsible for the murder in John Irvin’s street-tough film.
