The Hungry Tide

A documentary about one woman’s efforts to raise awareness of the environmental threats facing Kiribati, an island nation in the Pacific. If current trends continue, most of its land will be under water by the end of the century. Kiribati native Maria Tiimon, who lives in Australia, works for an NGO focused on climate change; and hopes to spur change at a global conference on carbon emissions. The Kiribati president, however, is fatalistic: He believes his people need to relocate elsewhere.
