Mukesh Khanna: Blasts Kalki 2898 AD for changing portions of the Mahabharat

Mukesh Khanna recently watched Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD with his colleagues and turned to YouTube to offer his thoughts on the film.

Nag Ashwin‘s Kalki 2898 AD, which debuted on June 27, has had an unstoppable run at the box office. The film, starring Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani, is being lauded for its breathtaking visuals and performances by the ensemble.

However, actor Mukesh Khanna, who played Shaktiman and Bhishma in BR Chopra’s television series Mahabharat, had a mixed reaction to the film. Despite his enthusiasm for the graphics and acting, Mukesh Khanna was outraged by the producers’ decision to distort so many themes of the Mahabharata.

Mukesh Khanna posted a long video on his YouTube account on Kalki 2898 AD. He stated that Kalki 2898 AD is similar to the standards set by Hollywood films like as Avatar, and the performances of the actors, particularly Amitabh Bachchan, are commendable.

Mukesh Khanna was also critical of the film, saying in Hindi, “One thing that bothers me is that they have attempted to change the mythology in the film.” In the beginning, you see Lord Krishna appear and take the jewel from Ashwathama’s forehead, informing him that he will be my saviour in the future, but Lord Krishna never says this. I’d like to ask the creators how they could claim to know more than the Vyas muni, who stated that what doesn’t exist here cannot exist elsewhere. It was not Krishna who removed Ashwatthama’s’mani’. I’ve been reading the Mahabharata since infancy; I can tell you that Draupadi requested that his’mani’ be removed, after he killed all five of her children.”

He further stated, “The reason I’m telling this story in such detail is that I don’t understand how Krishna could command Ashwatthama to protect him in the future in Kalki. How can someone as powerful as Krishna ask Ashwatthama to defend him? The liberties you’ve taken are unacceptable. We believe that South filmmakers show greater regard for our customs, but what happened now? I would want to request that the government form a committee to review films based on the Ramayan, Gita, and other legendary topics and, if necessary, take control of the script.”

Kalki 2898 AD is a science-fiction film with mythical overtones. Prabhas plays the bounty hunter Bhairava from Kashi, while Deepika is the pregnant test subject SUM-80. Amitabh portrays Ashwatthama from Indian mythology. Vyjayanthi Movies, the producers of Kalki 2898 AD, said on Wednesday that the film has generated more than 700 crore in all languages globally.
