Nargis Fakhri Hails Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Character Crafting in “Animal”
In a recent interview with Filmfare, actor Nargis Fakhri expressed her admiration for Sandeep Reddy Vanga‘s directorial prowess in the film “Animal,” particularly highlighting the nuanced depiction of female characters. Lauding Ranbir Kapoor‘s portrayal of alpha energy in the film, she commended the director for crafting well-defined roles for all actors, irrespective of their prominence in the storyline.
Reflecting on her experience with “Animal,” Nargis praised the depth of character exploration, emphasizing how even supporting female roles were imbued with substantial depth and significance. She remarked, “The characters of female actors in Animal were well drafted. Even though they weren’t ‘lead’, they had the juiciest parts too!”
Apart from Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Nargis expressed her desire to collaborate with esteemed directors like Rajkumar Hirani and Kabir Khan. She credited Hirani’s films, such as “Munna Bhai MBBS” and “Sanju,” for their ability to resonate with audiences through their light-hearted yet impactful narratives. Additionally, she admired Kabir Khan’s adeptness at crafting high-octane action sequences, citing “Ek Tha Tiger” as an example of his directorial prowess.
“Animal,” an action drama film helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, features a stellar ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri. Despite facing criticism for its portrayal of toxic masculinity and misogynistic themes, the film shattered box office records, grossing a staggering ₹917.82 crore worldwide upon its theatrical release in December 2023.
Nargis Fakhri, who shared screen space with Ranbir Kapoor in the 2011 film “Rockstar,” has built a diverse filmography over the years, with notable appearances in films like “Phata Poster Nikhla Hero,” “Main Tera Hero,” “Housefull 3,” and “Torbaaz.” Her recent projects include the film “Shiv Shastri Balboa” and the web series “Tatlubaaz,” both of which were released last year.
As Nargis continues to explore diverse roles and collaborate with visionary directors, her insightful commentary on “Animal” sheds light on the evolving landscape of character portrayal and storytelling in Indian cinema.
