Controversy Regarding the Border 2 Has Arisen Again : Nidhi Dutta’s Reaction on Copyright Dispute
The sequel (Border 2) of the 1997 superhit film Border is going to come after 27 years. The shooting of the film has started and meanwhile a controversy regarding the film has arisen again. Actually, the film’s financier and distributor Bharat Shah issued a public notice to the makers of ‘Border 2’. Bharat Shah has claimed that all the rights of the border are with him and Bina Bharat Shah.
Bharat Shah had approached the court in 2014 and accused JP Dutta of not giving him his share of Border’s earnings. After the copyright claim, now Border 2 producer and JP Dutta‘s daughter Nidhi Dutta has reacted to Bharat Shah‘s claims.
Nidhi Dutta’s reply to Bharat Shah :
JP Dutta in a conversation with Zoom said, “This case is pending in the court. The Hon’ble High Court has all the facts for years and has dismissed the case in our favour. As per the agreement made by the association, Bharat Shah has to first pay us the excess, which he has not done for 27 years or given a single record of any business of the film till date.”
Nidhi Dutta further said, “That is why the agreement states that we are not liable to them for anything. When they stand by their commitments and give us the additional payment pending for 27 years, we They can pursue this matter, but they have no stake in Border 2.”
When Border was being made, a deal was made between director JP Dutta and Bharat Shah. Bharat Shah was financing the film. However, later there was a rift between the two. But a deal had already been made between them to divide the revenue 50-50 percent. Bharat Shah says that JP Dutta neither informed Bharat Shah about the money being spent on the film nor about the earning.
