Gardner is an introverted anthropology student whose grandfather, John Patton Jr., is infamous for having claimed that extraterrestrials were behind the evolution of human beings. Patton’s evidence was a strange skeleton he says he discovered in 1938. Not surprisingly, this contention destroyed his grandfather’s career as an anthropologist. But the story isn’t over yet.
