A Most Beautiful Thing

The first Black American high school rowing team is formed. Many from rival gangs, the crew find a sense of belonging out on the water., Award-winning director Mary Mazzio (a former Olympic rower) helms this sports documentary, with the rapper Common serving as the narrator and executive producer. After twenty years, members of the nation’s first African American high school rowing team who were rival gang members from the West Side of Chicago and rowed together in the 1990s, reunite for another race after the death of one of their coaches.
