The Macedonians
The army created by Philip of Macedon, who transformed a largely peasant society into one of the most effective and successful armies of antiquity., The expansion of lands owned by Macedonia increased greatly under the rule of Phillip II. In Ancient Tribes: The Macedonians, Phillip’s methods are discussed, and include an army of superior abilities, threats, and treaties. The programs in this series offer dramatizations of main events, and filming is done on-site, with scenes of ruins and other remaining structures of the civilizations. Phillip’s son, Alexander the Great, followed in his father’s footsteps, and amassed control of further territories. Narration for these programs is provided by Colgate Salisbury.
