A journalist and his wife run into problems trying to adopt an abandoned child., In this melodrama, a childless couple are frustrated by the bureaucracy associated with adoption when they discover that they must wait two years before they can have a child. Through a helpful newspaper reporter they hear of a lost child who is staying at the police department. The couple takes the child in and tries to begin adoption proceedings. Things look good until the husband decides that it is only proper to discover who the boy’s parents were. He becomes obsessed with finding them. His fixation alarms the adoption agency who begins to consider him unstable and therefore, an unfit parent. He discovers that the baby’s father was a murderer, but this does not deter him from wanting the child. He makes a passionate speech to the agency. It works and the child is theirs.
