Todd’s search for Bolivian coffee begins in the high-altitude capital city of La Paz. Later, he drives his truck down what’s known as the Road of Death, and travels by zip line to check out a tip given to him by a local., Todd Carmichael begins his Bolivian journey short of breath at 12,000 feet in the world’s highest capital, La Paz. To find a source of true Bolivian coffee, Todd must drive his truck down Bolivia’s steep and perilous Death Road, where over 300 travelers fall to their deaths each year. Navigating hairpin turns on crumbling dirt roads, passing oncoming vehicles on single lanes overlooking 2,000 ft. cliffs, Todd makes his way into what should be coffee country. There he finds only more Coca, a much more profitable cash crop. A tip from a local leads him across a home-made zipline traversing a 1000 ft ravine, and the possibility of discovering his next valuable source of world class coffee.
