Yankee journalist Mark English (William Sylvester) is assigned the task of travelling to London to investigate a famous ventriloquist. Upon attending the show of The Great Vorelli (Bryant Halliday), Mark and his girlfriend, Marianne (Yvonne Romain), both are convinced of Vorelli’s legitamacy. Vorelli is soon invited to perform at a charity function for Marianne’s Aunt Eva (Nora Nicholson). While there, however, Marianne falls under his hypnotic spell. When she falls ill, nobody seems to know how to help–not even a specialist (Karel Stepanek) in the field of hypnosis. Mark continues to search for the truth behind the strange goings-on while Vorelli attempts to carry out his plans–transferring Marianne’s soul into the body of a dummy.
